Description
Tom Ferrara was born in Cleveland, Ohio and completed high school at Gilmour Academy. He graduated from Georgetown University College and Medical School and came to Indianapolis for a five year training program in OB-GYN at Indiana University School of Medicine. He then spent two years in the Army at Ft. Meade , MD, returning to Indianapolis to join two other OB-GYNs at Community East.
In 1972, he became board certified and established a program at community to train medical students in OB. He continued a very busy practice at East. He founded and was the director of the Maternity Care Center which provided OB care to many patients who had no insurance. This also provided OB training for the Family Medicine residents. He subsequently became Service Line Director for Women and Children. Since the establishment of Community Health Network, he has become Medical Director for Women’s Health.
He and Karen have been married for 40 years, and have enjoyed seven children and 15 grandchildren. Other interests include dancing, sporting clays, scuba diving, martial arts black belt and labyrinth construction and up keep.
